On July 26, 2019, all students of the July Class of 2019 Antai Global Summer Program (AGSP) successfully completed their studies and participated in the graduation ceremony in A303 of Antai College of Economics & Management (ACEM). YINHaitao, Associate Dean of ACEM, and WANG Haihui, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office attended the graduation ceremony and issued graduation certificates to all students.
The July Class of this year has kept the level of diversity in nationality and culture as the program had since its founding 7 years ago, and enrolled 37 students, including students from 16 different countries such as the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Singapore, Israel and Serbia. They are from the Imperial College London, the King's College London, the University of Chicago, the University of New York, the University of Minnesota, the University of British Columbia, the Tel Aviv University, the University of Belgrade, the University of Sydney, the Central European University and many other internationally renowned top universities.
Characterized by "Chinese Business Practices" and "Chinese Culture", Antai Global Summer Program is intended to allow students to quickly understand Chinese culture and Chinese business from multiple perspectives by participating in the program, and to bring the students a lifelong summer experience. The three-week program mainly includes four modules: Chinese economics and management courses, Chinese language and culture lectures, exclusive enterprise visits, and Chinese cultural immersion activities & city sightseeing. The students can not only learn knowledge and culture in the process of the program, but also obtain three credits granted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
In terms of course design, the July Class differentiated trainings between undergraduate level and postgraduate level. In the undergraduate course design, the program focuses on students’ experience of Chinese culture and living environment, cultivating their cross-cultural and cross-national thinking, and providing help for their future career development and planning. The postgraduate course design focuses on cultivating students' understanding of Chinese business and economy, discussing independent entrepreneurship, cultivating students' practical management ability, and combining case discussion, enterprise forum and other models with classroom teaching. The characteristic courses offered this time include not only China’s Economy and Consumer Behavior, but also many courses related to hot topics, such as Human Resources, Technology and Infrastructure. The students visited Shanghai Volkswagen, Science and Technology Center and well-known consulting companies successively, exchanged with the staff of the companies and gained a lot of valuable experience. In the cultural sector, this program has added fun activities such as folding fan painting, Chinese tea art experience, wonton making, etc., so that students can understand and taste the unique charm of Chinese culture in their own practice.
As the first flagship summer program of ACEM, taught in English, for overseas students, Antai Global Summer Program (AGSP) is intended to enhance the internationalization level of students of ACEM, increase the international popularity of ACEM, boost the exchange and cooperation with more first-class international universities, and further help the internationalization development process of ACEM.
